A HEARTY
THANK YOU!

To:
All the Companies and Volunteers who make the
Livestock Skills Scholarship Competition Possible

and special recognition of:

FRANK ELLIOTT
LINN POST & PIPE

This scholarship program was over 3 years in the making. At Midwest Shows, Inc./Farm Shows USA, we have long been searching for a way to encourage young people to pursue careers in agriculture. With a lot of encouragement from OSU extension agent, Jim Biles, we began to formulate the idea that would become the TULSA FARM SHOW Livestock Handling Skills Scholarship program.

Thanks are due Joe Don Eaves and Tulsa Stockyards for providing the calves processed as part of the competition as well as judging along with a dozen or so livestock pro's throughout the years. , Livestock Concepts, and Becky Rus for generous supply of veterinary supplies, Tim Fuller, our emcee, and all the Career and Technology Ed. teachers who were involved.

As with most projects of this magnitude there is one person who becomes involved that seems to bring everything together. Frank Elliott of Linn Enterprises became aware of, and interested in, this project during the 1998 show. He generously offered his help in structuring the competition. He also volunteered to work with State of Oklahoma Department of Vocational Education officials to insure a quality event that was fair and rewarded desire to enter into a post secondary education program in agriculture. Frank also convinced his employer, Linn Enterprises, that it would be worth while to supply the extra panels, alleys, gates and chutes necessary to facilitate the competition. Frank was invaluable in bringing this project to fruition. He spent many hours in preparing for the competition, attended numerous meetings with our staff and Oklahoma State Department of Vocational Education officials to make the event a reality at the 1999 show.

WITHOUT FRANK'S INVOLVEMENT AND THE GENEROUS LOAN OF EQUIPMENT BY LINN POST & PIPE, THE EVENT WOULD NOT BE A REALITY TODAY! ( see some pictures of Frank working the 1999 event below )

As with any worthwhile project, there is so much work that goes unheralded, so much unrecognized energy, thought and dedication to an idea that makes the idea come to life. This page is our small way of recognizing the untiring efforts of Frank, the generousity of Linn Post & Pipe, and all other volunteers and supporters.
